Outreach

First Congregational Church, UCC, is commited to living out God's Good News in service to others.  We are constantly seeking more and better ways to serve the needs of those around us.

Whether it is taking communion to homebound members, volunteering at a local hospice, mentoring in a local elementary school, or any number of other activities, our members keep finding opportunities to serve.

The funny thing is, the more ways our members find to serve, the more they find themselves rewarded - by feeling good, by making a difference, by strengthening their faith, by making new friends, by drawing closer to one another and God.

A few of the ministries and missions we are involved in are

CROPWalk We join the efforts of Church World Service to deal with hunger and poverty around the world and at home
KidsHopeUSA  We have partnered with a local elementary school to mentor at risk first graders - find out more here.
Inter-Church Council The ICC consists of the pastors of area churches of many denominations to deal with issues of homelessness and hunger.
SIREN/Eaton Shelter We support this shelter, support and food pantry service working with issues of both homelessness and domestic violence through donations, service coordination, and other support.
Real Life 101 A group of volunteers mentor students of the local alternative high school, giving practical lessons on a number of life and job skills, while providing them with a set of caring adults.  For some of the kids, this may be their first experience having a non-judgmental, caring adult presence in their lives.
Al-Anon We host a weekly meeting for those who are dealing with issues of alcoholism in their family.
